Cassadee Pope is Number 1 on the Voice

Cassadee Pope is Number 1 on The Voice

After they return from break, Cassadee Pope is ready for her bring back song and gives a little info on her feelings for Melanie Martinez and how much she loves Liz Davis’ voice. She also says De’borah inspired her from the beginning of the show. The ladies are tasked with singing It’s Time by Imagine Dragons which they do a wonderful job with. For such a vocal mix, they do a terrific job with the vocal. This is an eclectic mix of voices and they do a great job with this song. It’s hard to believe that you can mix De’borah with Melanie Martinez and get a cogent song, but this one works. In fact they all work well together.

Casssadee Pope and Blake Shelton in the Finals

Potential Number 1 Team Blake Shelton and Cassadee Pope

After what seems like an eternity, it all comes down to how you felt about last night’s final performances. Each artist sang two solos (if you can consider what Nicholas David did with Fire and Great Balls of Fire a solo) and a performance number with their coach. Terry McDermott stayed true to his rocker roots and Nicholas David remained true blues all the way. Cassadee Pope went from rocker to country crooner under the mentoring of Blake Shelton. Did switching genres work to her advantage or hold her back? From the early returns it looks like the switch worked, but tonight will tell the final story if Cassadee walks away with the crown. Final 4 Contestants Celebrate

Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope Celebrate the Top 4

We find out tonight whether you held up your end of the bargain and voted for your favorite singers after last night’s performances. If you did, then perhaps your favorites made it through to the final four. If not, they are going home. Last night was a mixed bag with each singer performing two songs and almost all of them produced one great performance and one good performance. Trevin Hunte did an okay job with Walking on Sunshine, but blew it out of the box singing And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going. He wasn’t the only artist who suffered from a split personality last night. So it will be interesting to see how that carried over into the voting. Read More

Flipping Fans on the Voice is Christina Aguilera

Having No Contestants, Christina Fans Herself on the Voice

Melanie Martinez is up next and who would believe it, but she is singing Crazy. How hard is it to imagine the difficulty the team had in coming up with that song choice? This is a Maroon 5 song, so Melanie has to prove that she can not only sing it with her own style, but she also needs to retain some of the original gestalt. She has changed the color of the stripe in her hair from brown to blue this week and that might be helping her with the song which she has chosen to sing in her own style.  Christina tells her she has the best stage props. She liked her lullaby effect and made a great effort at it. CeeLo tells her she and Adam have great taste in music and she did a great job. Adam tells her there were some pitch issues. She transcends the technicality issues and then Adam went on to tell her about someone sending him a message about their daughter wanting to purchase a Melanie dress at the Mall and what a big deal that is that she has created her own style and persona outside of the show. It was river speak, meandering all over the place. Read More

To make things even more interesting, there are three men and three women left in the game. What started out looking like a sure thing for a male singer to win is now equally open to members of either gender. Read More

Cody Belew Parties Before Elimination on The Voice Top 8

Last night we listened to eight artists perform. By the end of the night tonight, we will be down to six. Who do you think made it through and who do you think picked the wrong songs and is headed home? Did Terry’s decision to sing Over end his run on the show or were people looking for something different from the rocker? How about Dez Duron, did his choice of Justin Bieber’s U Smile put a frown on your face the way it did mine? Read More

Top 8 Nicholas and Cody on the Voice

Cody Belew and Nicholas David of the Top 8 on the Voice

Continuing onMelanie Martinez is performing Too Close which is a break up song and she is currently going through a break up and wants to show it through her music. Like everything else she sings, Melanie is deep in the song and hanging on to her unusual nature as she sings the song. She is playing a guitar with her hands and playing a tambourine with her foot while seated in a unique stage setting. It is an interesting song played in a very dark mood. Blake tells her that her voice melts him. He likes that she is back playing the tambourine with her feet. Christina loved the set and loved the staging. She felt it was the best performance by Melanie up to this point. CeeLo liked the set and thought the band did a great job and a she did a great rendition of a cool record that she made her own and she was a success and he really likes her. Adam loves her and says when you’re going through a breakup or something you want to make the person you are going through this with feels dumb and she did that. Personal matters aside he loves seeing an artist who is so into every aspect of the performance from the tambourine to the set. He was happy with the performance. Read More
