Yeah, the Situation has Become ‘That Guy’ at the Club….
Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino is adapting to his new lifestyle without drinking, without drugs, without skanky Jersey women….okay, maybe not that last part. He’s good with it obviously because he’s packed on a noticeable 25 pounds in sheer muscle since his time in rehab, where he has overcome his addiction to prescription pain medication.
That dude is straight beefy now!
But people who do not share in his ‘straight edge’ lifestyle aren’t settling in to the new Mike too kindly. Instead of supporting him for overcoming his addiction, they are teasing him because he is no longer drinking and partying like he used to!
I can totally see sweaty, tan Jersey dudes with terribly gooped up hair wildly fist bumping in encouragement for Mike to take down shots. When he whips out his reading glasses and the latest from Oprah’s book club, obviously they are disappointed. These people came to see The Situation get effed up and take home some b*tchez, not have a warm glass of milk before bed.
There are two sides to this story and I completely understand both.
While I understand that fans of Jersey Shore may be a bit put off that their Jersey icons who used to put the OMGAwd in Gaudy, have disappeared overnight. Snooki isn’t living in the house next season because she’s pregnant, can’t party, can’t drink. Mike has given up drugs and alcohol and therefore isn’t the same person that fans fell for the first 5 seasons.
On the other hand…most of the Shore fans who are enamored with the party lifestyle they saw on the show are fans only because of the destructive behavior. If they really cared about Snooki and Mike, they’d be like, awwwe man, that’s too bad, but good for them.
And obviously that’s not what’s happening for The Situation.
A source close to all things Jersey Shore said,
”Mike has been consistently taunted by other club goers for not drinking. He has been handling it pretty well but it can get embarrassing and awkward for him to consistently be harassed for it. Mike was being heckled on Friday night before the fight broke out. It has been hard for him to deal with at times because his sobriety is still rather new. However, Mike absolutely hasn’t been drinking or taking pills and is committed to staying sober. Mike isn’t going to stay home and not go to clubs, he doesn’t think that going out will harm his recovery.”
I am surprised that he’s allowing himself the temptation of a dark club full of almost naked women… that must be some serious will power. I can hardly say no to carbs for one meal, and saying no to the life that made you rich and famous has to be SO much harder.
Which side are you on?? Are you rooting for Mike to stay along the sober path, or do you prefer your ‘Situation’ with a side of drinking, drugs, and grenades?! Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our emails!
