Dancing with the Stars Dances Right Out of the Ratings
This is what happens when you don’t have a Kate Gosselin or Kim Kardashian for fans to tune in to watch! If only ABC had consulted me first, they would know that Urkel just wasn’t enough to keep Dancing in first place. Since the show is currently competing with the Voice, they stand no chance against the competition show that dethroned American Idol in just 2 seasons.
Last night Dancing premiered with its lowest ratings ever in 14 seasons of the ballroom dance competition. A lackluster 18.5 million viewers in their sequin outfits tuned in, (but probably had the Voice DVR’ed). The show is down 34% from this point last spring and down another 13% from the fall…major #fail.
The Voice is the new thang my friends and I have a feeling it will be around for at least 10 seasons. Afterall, the show to bring down Ryan Seacrest has got to be legendary, right? Or, maybe people have finally realized that ballroom dancing just isn’t cool, no matter who is trying to do it. A double dose of not cool is the fact that Urkel was trying to waltz for God’s sake.
