“Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate. They remain devoted parents to their two daughters…” Those are the exact words from the president of Vera Wang’s company, Mario Grauso.
He made the astonishing announcement that confirmed that after 23 years of marriage, Vera Wang and husband Arthur Becker have separated. The couple tied the knot in 1989 and together they have two daughters, Cecilia and Josephine.
Some critics joked that the black bridal gowns that Wang featured in her fall line were an indication that things were headed south. Or perhaps when Vera designed Kim Kardashian’s 3 custom gowns for her 72 day marriage, she caught Kim’s curse?
Nahh, Vera Wang is MUCH cooler (and cleaner) than a Kardashian.
You know they never say to mix business with pleasure. Apparently Vera and her soon to be ex husband Arthur didn’t care about that advice as they operate a massive company comprised of Wang’s various projects. These include her clothing lines, makeup, home goods and fragrances, which Becker has a big hand in the management and direction of the enterprise.
Those staff meetings are going to get a bit awkward.
However, a company insider disagrees. They said,
[But they] “will not let this impact the running of the company. They have worked too hard to build it up…”
Now that Vera will join the ranks of single ladies, I’ll be interested to see if her designs will take a new shape. From her ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ episode where Khloe finds her Vera gown for her wedding, Vera seemed very go with the flow. Since she’s already tried black on for wedding couture, who knows what she has up her sleeve.
At least this divorce didn’t hit me like a semi truck, like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ did. I think in both ladies’ case they are much better off. Katie is no longer an angry badger stuffed into a burlap bag and Vera can move on to a cool guy whose douchey name isn’t Arthur for God’s sake.
